LETTERS TO THE EDITOR

Thanks for the encouragement, support and kindness

To the Editor,

I write to express my thanks for the encouragement, support and kindness of so many during my campaign as a candidate for Ridgefield’s Board of Police Commissioners.

I have been amazed that people remain willing to open their doors to a stranger, put up with my interruptions on the street and at events, display my signs in their yards and support me with letters to the editor. I am especially grateful to the thousands of folks in Ridgefield who voted for me, and to the members of the Democratic Town Committee, who work tirelessly in defense of our democratic institutions. It has been a great honor to represent you as one of your candidates.

I look forward to serving with Marcie Coffin, John Frey, George Kain and Issy Caporale, and will do my best to validate the trust placed in me to represent the interests of all Ridgefielders in supporting our fine police department.

Sharon Dornfeld, Ridgefield

The Saint Joseph Parenting Center thanks Ridgefield

To the Editor,

The Saint Joseph Parenting Center, a non-sectarian nonprofit whose mission is to help prevent child abuse and neglect through parenting education and support, would like to thank the Ridgefield community who helped make its Fall Benefit dinner a great success.

Special thanks to A Contemporary Theatre of Connecticut for donating tickets to their production of “Smokey Joe’s Cafe,” and to The Ridgefield Playhouse for providing complimentary tickets to their December holiday extravaganza, “Christmas with the Celts.” Tickets to these shows were paired with gift cards to local restaurants as silent auction items. Additionally, local artist Tina Phillips donated an original watercolor painting, which was well received by our guests. SJPC is grateful for the support of these donors.

Our benefit dinner was held outdoors at the Stamford Yacht Club, and we could not have planned for a more perfect evening. Cocktails were served on the expansive patio overlooking the harbor, and dinner was served on the picturesque front lawn underneath a tented canopy. Dozens of our Ridgefield neighbors attended this event.

Thanks to the generosity of attendees, SJPC raised nearly $130,000 to support our mission. We are also happy to report that we are opening a second center in Danbury in the coming months due to the success of our current Stamford center.

We encourage our neighbors in Ridgefield to help us advance our mission through time, talent and financial support; there are many ways to get involved. For more information, please visit sjpcenter.org to learn more about our wonderful organization. Thank you.

A note of thanks

To the Editor,

My heartfelt thanks to the approximately 3,000 voters who supported my candidacy to serve on Ridgfield’s Board of Police Commissioners. I greatly appreciated not only your votes but your shared conviction in the theme of my candidacy: “Keeping Ridgefield both safe and caring.”

I was humbled not only by your votes but in your united enthusiasm for investing in our police department, which is firmly grounded in the values of service, integrity, fairness, caring and justice. I also listened hard and truly valued your feedback and support for policies that protect all of our residents and visitors, especially those that support our seniors, youth, and local businesses — all important parts of the fabric that makes Ridgefield such a special place to live.

Lastly, I was touched by your collective encouragement to increase the investment of resources in our officers through training, technology and a new public safety facility for our town. Together we agreed the implementation of such a facility needs to be done carefully by balancing costs with strategic and caring eyes on the future, with the success of this project being defined by delivering the best emergency services possible.

Thank you for the honor of your vote. Let’s keep Ridgefield both safe and caring.

Ralph Money, Ridgefield
