Specializing in aesthetic and reconstructive breast and body procedures, Dr. Pathy is Director of Breast Reconstruction Services at William W. Backus Hospital in Norwich. He is one of Connecticut’s few plastic surgeons who offers microsurgical perforator flap breast reconstruction, including the DIEP flap, which uses a patient’s own abdominal skin and fat to reconstruct the breast without sacrificing muscle. This sophisticated procedure results in accelerated recovery and a natural result. “Our experienced team, which includes fellow surgeons, our PAs Megan Phillips and Morgan Massey, the nursing teams, scrub techs, anesthesia, scheduling, and office staff, make these complex procedures in addition to those less intricate go smoothly because of the profound attention to detail,” he notes. “We realize that patients may have choices when pursuing their care, and the privilege we are granted by contributing in that care is not lost on us.” Dr. Pathy also commonly performs procedures such as breast augmentations, reductions, lifts, and abdominoplasties, liposuction including laser-based Smartlipo, and other body contouring. He offers skin cancer excisions and closures, among other surgical care, as well as facial injectable procedures, such as Botox® and dermal fillers. A leading innovator, Dr. Pathy founded Pathy Medical®, a medical device company, which developed and manufactures the Light Jacket®. The disposable device slides onto the end of an electrocautery pencil, improving the visibility of tissues with enhanced illumination across a wide variety of surgical specialties, directing light precisely where the surgeon is working without bulky cables or the need to frequently readjust overhead lighting. With 15 granted or allowed patents to date, Dr. Pathy seeks to improve efficiency and outcomes for surgeons, other caregivers, and patients on a much broader scale.
