LATHAM — Ronald Y. Chen passed away peacefully on January 5, 2021, at Albany Medical Center due to complications from a brain aneurysm. Ron was born September 8, 1968, in Indianapolis, Ind. Ron had been a high school teacher in New Jersey, ESL teacher in Taiwan, and groundskeeper at Mill Road Acres. Ron graduated from Shaker High School in 1986, Princeton University in 1990 (BA, Psychology), and SUNY Buffalo in 2009 (Master’s, General Education). He was a versatile multi-sport athlete excelling in track, soccer, football and baseball. Ron continued his track career at Princeton, being voted team captain in his senior year. Ron, a 2nd Generation Taiwanese-American, lived in Taiwan from 1993 to 2008. There he met his wife Huang Hsing Hui teaching English. The pair were married in 1995 and they had two sons, Jonathan in 1997 and Jeremy in 2000. Together they owned and operated Princeton Language School in Taipei. In 2008, Ron wanted to raise his two sons in America to give them a childhood which he was able to experience. Life threw Ron a variety of curves in his adult years, but he persevered and was a devoted father, son, brother, uncle and friend. He enjoyed running, bicycling, reading and tinkering. He is survived by his sons, Jonathan and Jeremy; parents, Chungchin and Heidi; brothers, Ray (Peihuang) and Bob; nephew and niece, Eric and Emily; and many additional relatives in the U.S. and Taiwan. A private memorial service for immediate family and close friends will be held Saturday, January 16, from 10-11 a.m. at the Bowen & Parker Bros. Funeral Home, 97 Old Loudon Road, Latham.
