MANISTEE  —  The Armory Youth Project was recently awarded a $10,000 grant from House of Flavors, Inc. in support of the Armory’s mission to provide a safe environment where young people grades 6-12 can build community and be encouraged in their educational, emotional, physical and Christian spiritual development.

The donation was made possible through the Protein Foundation, the philanthropic arm of Protein Holdings, which has a majority share in House of Flavors, Inc.

“We believe that Armory Youth Project’s focus on empowering youth through their free, after-school programming with daily snacks and meals provides a great service to Manistee County,” said Sarah Holmes, vice president of finance for

House of Flavors. “We are passionate about the youth in our communities and supporting them to the best they can be as they are the key to our future.”

Amy Wojciechowski,  executive director of the  Armory Youth Project, was extremely grateful for the House of Flavors’ continued support of Manistee County youth.

“We were so excited to hear that we had been awarded the grant,” she said. “The Armory is a nonprofit 501(c)3 that is funded 90% by donations and 10% by grants and we are very thankful for House of Flavors’ support of our focus on creating a flourishing youth culture in Manistee County where every person feels valued, finds a pathway to oppor- tunity and has the tools to realize a more promising future.

“When they reached out and asked us to apply for the grant, we were not only excited for the opportunity to apply, but for House of Flavors’ recognition of the positive impact we are having on kid’s lives,” Wojciechowski continued. “We are able to reach kids through the variety of programs we offer from basketball and archery tag to Junior Achievement and Safe Sitter classes to cooking classes and mentoring and tutoring — we have something for everyone.”
