11-year-old shot, killed after gunmen open fire on home

An 11-year-old child was shot and killed early Sunday in east Harris County, according to Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez.

Investigators say the suspects pulled up to a home in the 15000 block of North Brentwood in Channelview. The suspects then opened fire on the home, specifically into one room.

An 11-year-old inside the home was shot and killed. According to Gonzalez, there were other children in the room at the time, but they were not injured.

3-year-old hospitalized after being pulled from pool

A 3-year-old child was hospitalized Sunday after being pulled from a swimming pool in Montgomery County.

The child was found in the 2500 block of Marufo Vega Drive, Canyon Lake of Spring Trails Subdivision, according to the Montgomery County Police Reporter.

Also on Sunday, a 5-year-old who was rescued Friday from apool in the 3400 block of Tamarron Parkway Friday evening in southwest Katy died, according to authorities. The boy was previously reported as being 6.

Teen hits deep spot, drowns while playing in a marina

A teen boy drowned Sunday when he went under playing catch in a marina in northeast Harris County, officials said.

The boy, who was visiting from California, hit a deep spot in the water at Magnolia Garden Park at 18041 Riverside Street when he went missing, according to the Harris County Sheriff’s Office. The popular park borders the San Jacinto River.

He couldn’t swim and wasn’t wearing a life jacket, authorities said.

Truck hits man crossing traffic on Interstate 45

A driver in a black Dodge truck fatally struck a pedestrian who attempted to cross Interstate 45 southbound at Parker on Sunday morning.

Multiple witnesses said they saw the adult white male trying to dodge traffic on the freeway shortly before 6 a.m., but an off-duty firefighter couldn’t avoid him. The driver was uninjured.

All lanes of I-45 southbound were diverted for hours as the vehicle crimes division of the Houston Police Department investigated.

5 men pull a gun on group of 3, killing 1 and injuring 2

One man was critically injured Saturday night after a gun was drawn during a fight on the side of a Liberty County road.

A group of five men pulled a gun on a group of three men around 9 p.m. at Liberty Road and Gregg Street. All three men were shot as they tried to run away. Two were taken to the hospital, authorities said.

The group of five fled, and no one is in custody. The suspects are described as black males in their 20s. Anyone with information is asked to call 713-222-TIPS.

Truck running red light sends four to the hospital

The driver of awhite pickup truck ran a red light and hit a BMW early Sunday in Jersey Village, sending four people to the hospital.

The pickup was headed west on the Highway 290 feeder road when it hit the car traveling south on West Road. The BMW was pushed into a concrete highway pillar, authorities said.

A 15-year-old in the car was taken by Life Flight to the hospital in critical condition. Three adults were taken to the hospital in stable condition.

Jersey Village police are investigating whether alcohol played afactor.
