“I’m excited to announce my candidacy for Sulphur City Court/Ward 4 Judge. I will bring conservative Republican values to the Court. This will be a fulltime job where I will continue to protect the citizens of Ward 4 and their rights every single day I’m on the bench. I’m a father and a grandfather that cares deeply about the families and future of Sulphur, Carlyss, and Westlake” says judicial candidate Harry Fontenot Jr.

Harry Fontenot, Jr. is a lifelong resident of Sulphur and Carlyss and is currently the District Defender for Calcasieu and Cameron Parishes, a position he has held for the last 8 years. He has practiced law with distinction in Sulphur and Southwest Louisiana for over 23 years handling both civil and criminal cases. During his legal career, he has been recognized as a Certified Standardized Field Sobriety Test Practitioner, a Louisiana Mental Health Court and Louisiana Drug Court professional and has received numerous professional awards for his legal service to the community.

Fontenot graduated Magna Cum Laude from Southern University Law Center and Cum Laude from McNeese State University. A staunch Republican, he has served as President of the Calcasieu Parish Republican Executive Committee and elected to the Louisiana Republican State Central Committee.

Harry’s family has deep roots in West Calcasieu Parish. His family owned and operated Harry’s Restaurant, Skate World in Westlake, Fontenot’s Mobile Home Parks and Fontenot’s Rentals. He has also been active in our community for many years serving as a Member and Past Master of the Sulphur Lodge, Member of Vinton Lodge, Member of Habibi Shriners, Chairman of the Habibi Shriners Circus, the Circus Announcer as well as attorney for the local Habibi Shriners. He is a Member of the Advisory Board of the Louisiana Pirate Festival and a Board Member of Calcasieu Parish Family and Youth Planning Council.
