Tech transfer event to hear Yale official

    Jon Soderstrom, managing director of the Office of Cooperative Research at Yale University, will speak at the Enterprise Center’s second annual Technology Transfer Conference on Friday.

    Dr. Soderstrom is past president of the Association of University Technology Managers and an expert in the field.

    Entrepreneurs as well as leaders in business, industry and manufacturing will gather to learn how technology transfer can give local businesses greater profitability and how the Enterprise Center can help, officials said.

    The conference will be held at Loose Cannon Studios, 1800 Rossville Ave., in the Main Street District from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.

    Adaptive Methods, Oak Ridge National Laboratory and the University of Tennessee Institute for Public Service are sponsors. Attendance is free and open to the public with pre-registration. Send inquiries to Adkins_Char@TheEnterpriseCtr.org.

    “Technology transfer is vital to long-term economic success for Chattanooga,” said Chris Daly of the Enterprise Center.

    J. Keith Buckner, vice president of manufacturing at Adaptive Methods, will describe a case study on a successful technology transfer.

    Following the conference, attendees will tour the Rapid Deployment Shelter System manufacturing facility, which constructs portable shelters that can be deployed in Tennessee and around the world for multiple uses.
