Burbank junior quarterback Dylan Gusme (right) returns to lead the offense as they look to rebound from a tough season.

Burbank Bulldogs

Coach: Mark Perez

2015 record: 0-10 overall, 0-8 district

Returning starters: 8 offense, 6 defense

Top returners: QB Dylan Gusme, LB Gabriel Falcon, C Jose Perez

Top newcomers: DB Carlos Covarrubias, RB Isaac Cantu

The skinny: The Bulldogs are counting on starting experience on both sides to help them come back from a winless season. Burbank is expected to play several sophomores.

The youth movement is strong at Burbank. The Bulldogs will rely on some young players to help them rebound from a 0-10 season a year ago.

The task might not be as daunting considering the Bulldogs have eight returning starters on offense and six on defense.

The Bulldogs will rely on juniors to lead them on offense. Quarterback Dylan Gusme passed for 423 yards and rushed for 529 yards in his first season as the starter. Running back Diego Vela rushed for 129 yards.

Jose Perez will lead the offensive line at center.

On defense, linebacker Gabriel Falcon and Carlos Covarrubias look to get better after playing as freshman last year.

The Bulldogs open with Pearsall and Corpus Christi Moody in non-district play before beginning District 28-5A competition against Highlands on Sept. 8 at Alamo Stadium.
