Junior QB Vincent Gonzalez, who started three games in 2015, is expected to lead the offensive attack for the Brackenridge Eagles.

Brackenridge Eagles

Coach: Willie Hall

2015 record: 4-6 overall, 4-4 district

Returning starters: 5 offense, 5 defense

Top returners: DL John Naranjo, DB William Hall, DL Matthew Rios

Top newcomers: WR Justin Eaton, QB Vincent Gonzalez

The skinny: The Eagles don’t have much depth and several of their players are going to play both ways. Gonzalez is expected to take over the offense full time after getting three starts a year ago. Eaton will lead the receivers after the graduation of four starters.

Brackenridge coach Willie Hall expects his team to be in contention for the postseason even after losing many key players that went 4-6 a season ago.

The Eagles are looking at playing a handful of players both ways. John Naranjo started on both lines. He began the 2015 season on the offensive line and added defensive duties toward the second half of district play.

Ryan, whose nickname is “Rocky,” Ozuna also saw action on the lines. Hall likes Ozuna’s enthusiasm.

Johnathon Lucas is one of the Eagles’ most versatile players. His main positions will be receiver and defensive back.

The biggest question marks come at the skilled positions.

Junior Vincent Gonzalez becomes the full-time starter at quarterback. The converted receiver started three games at quarterback last season. Justin Eaton is a good candidate to emerge after the Eagles graduated their top four receivers. Senior Fred Jones will offer valuable leadership to what will be a young group of running backs.
