PROVIDENCE — Providence Journal Food Editor Gail Ciampa will be honored on Thursday by the Rhode Island Region of the National Organization of Italian American Women, which proclaims its mission is “to unite and connect women through Italian culture and heritage” while also celebrating the achievements of women of Italian ancestry.

Also being honored at the 6 p.m. Epiphany Celebration at Café Nuovo are New York Times-bestselling author Judith Dupré and lawyer Laura Pisaturo, chair of the Rhode Island Parole Board.

“Gail Ciampa’s tenure as a respected writer, editor and reporter spans over thirty years,” the organization said in a media release. “She currently writes and edits the food section in The Providence Journal, part of southern New England’s leading news organization.”

In the release, Rhode Island Region president Anne Marie D’Attelo said the group “is proud to honor these Three Wise Women … women of distinction and prominence in their respective fields. Their success is an inspiration to all Italian-American women and they serve as role models to our young women.”

Tickets for the event start at $75 and are available at noiaw.org, or by calling (212) 642-2003.

According to the organization, proceeds will benefit “programs such as the Scholarship Program, which provides financial assistance to students to help them realize their dreams; the Cultural Exchange Program, which sends young Italian American women on culturally enriching experiences to Italy; and the Mentor Program, which pairs young Italian American women with established professionals.”
