Come on down to the Greenwich Odeum on Saturday for great music and a general good time with the Slambovian Circus of Dreams.
As their name implies, the 10-plus-year-old band from Sleepy Hollow in New York’s Hudson Valley is hard to pigeonhole, being variously described as “Hillbilly Pink Floyd,” “surreal Americana” and “a riveting, mesmerizing, crazy, amazing machine of music.”
That’s from Chronogram magazine, while Maverick magazine says “their melodic avant-folk conjures with an exotic instrumental arsenal and a palette of styles ranging from dusty Americana ballads to huge Pink Floydesque cinematic anthems. The Slambovians charm from the first note with thought provoking lyrics for thinking audiences.”
The band has a devoted cult following throughout the United States, Canada and Britain. Flamboyant songwriter Joziah Longo (vocals/guitar/harmonica) is joined by Sharkey McEwen (guitar, mandolin), Tink Lloyd (accordion, cello, etc.), and Felipe Torres (drums, percussion).
