The founders of the Save a Mind Foundation hosted a poker fund-raiser on April 19 at a home in Penn Valley. Save a Mind believes that with the right combination of motivation and support, all students can succeed in school. The foundation’s Win/Win program is a three-pronged motivational program, available at no cost to public schools, that uses positive student-teacher relationship building, personal student goal-setting, and rewards for middle school students in lower-income districts. More than 100 people attended the poker event, including Hall of Fame poker player Erik Seidel. Proceeds of more than $52,500 will benefit the Win/Win program.
