Lifelong resident and local business owner Tony Bottino announced Tuesday at Ripepi Winery in Monongahela his campaign for the state House representative seat in the 49th district.

Bottino, born in New Eagle, graduated from Mon Valley Catholic in 1985 and received a bachelor of science degree in economics from Penn State University in 1990. Subsequently, he entered the financial services industry and has operated his business, Bottino Financial Inc., locally for nearly 30 years.

He married Tara Brussalis from Forward Township in 1994 and raised five children: Anthony III, Kayla, Alexander, Dominic and Andrew. Together they own Just 4 You Gift Shop LLC in Monongahela.

They currently reside in Carroll Township. His parents, Anthony Sr. and Judith Bottino, also reside in Carroll Township.

Bottino has served as president of several organizations, including local Penn State Alumni and church councils. He taught Sunday school for 10 years and coached youth baseball and football.

He has served as president of the Monongahela Area Chamber of Commerce for the past 10 years.

He was awarded Citizen of the Year from the chamber in 2014. He also was awarded the Distinguished Citizen Award from the Monongahela Elks in 2016.

Bottino feels that “his education background and ability to work well with other leaders makes him the right person at the right time.”

He said he wants to work with state, county and local leadership as well as nonprofits and volunteers. As state representative, he said he will be able to “provide the leadership needed to make real change.”

His “drive and passion, combined with education and experience, is exactly what the 49th district is craving,” he stated.

The 49th Legislative District comprises municipalities in Washington and Fayette counties.
