1. LSU: The Tigers might have had a post-Alabama hangover against Ole Miss but could probably not lose to Arkansas even if they were wearing ice packs on their head.

2. Georgia: The Bulldogs are still in the Big Picture and can determine how far they go despite losing to South Carolina. That’s a good break if they don’t blow it against Texas A&M.

3. Alabama: It will be a Somber Saturday at Bryant-Denny Stadium but lots of young players will at least get playing time.

4. Florida: Florida seems headed for a quiet 10-2 season and a decent bowl which isn’t bad at all even if it seems like more was possible.

5. Auburn: Samford might struggle to cross

midfield against the Tiger defense.

6. Texas A&M: Could this be the weekend that Jimbo Fisher gets a signature win as an Aggie, after whiffing on about six prior opportunities?

7. Tennessee: UT has a chance to lock up a bowl bid against Missouri, calling a turnaround from a 1-4 start and possible relegation to the MAC.

8. Kentucky: The Wildcats are an erratic 5-5 but should get bowl eligible on Saturday (UT-Martin) and that’s about as good as anyone else left on this list will do.

9. Ole Miss: John Rhys Plumlee ran wild on LSU which sounds impossible but clearly happened. But he can’t play defense, too, so Ole Miss couldn’t pull the upset of the year.

10. Mississippi State: The Bulldogs may have had the biggest impact of any team in the nation on the national championship race by way of tackling an opponent’s QB.

11. Missouri: Mizzou appears to be going

through the motions and not much more.

12. South Carolina: It wasn’t quite a “vote of confidence” but Will Muschamp did get a “vote of we can’t afford to dump you” this week, which may be better.

13. Vanderbilt: The Vandy administration is sticking with Derek Mason because he is a pretty good captain on a boat that is going to leak regardless.

14. Arkansas: Trivia time: Barry Lunney Jr.is (a.) a character actor who appeared in the Elvis feature “Roustabout” (b.) credit manager at a Little Rock Honda dealership or (c.) interim head coach at Arkansas this week.
