Junction City takes second at state meet

JESSIEVILLE - Junction City finished as the state runner-up Tuesday in the boys division of the 3A State Track & Field Championships.

The Dragons totaled 67 points to finish a distant second behind Prescott, which won the title with

106. Jessieville was third with 64.5. Smackover finished 18th in the 30-team field.

Tykeon Hollidy led the Dragons, winning the 100 meters with a time of 11.22.

He was second in the 200 and third in the long jump and was a member of Junction City’s state championship 4x100 relay along with Hishmma Taylor, Jalen Davis and Shuvasceiaye Frazier. The relay won with a time of 43.70.

Noreaga Frazier and Tyler Leblanc placed third and fifth, respectively, in the discus.

Shuvasceiaye Frazier was fourth in the 300 hurdles and Scott Wallace finished fifth in the 800.

The Buckaroos were led by Dexter Crockett, who was sixth in the 100 and Roshard Boone, who finished seventh in the 110 hurdles.

In girls, Junction City’s Camya Hamilton finished second in the shot putt. Jada Archie was eighth in the shot and Keyunna Ross was eighth in the 300 hurdles.

Smackover’s Camree Jones was fourth in the 400 and eighth in the high jump.

Adriana Grant was fifth in the triple jump and Laynie Clark was sixth in the high jump.

Rivercrest won the girls title with 84 points. Smackover scored 13 and finished 15th and the Lady Dragons scored 10 and finished 19th out of 32 teams.
