A new Aldi that will be the anchor of a retail development in Beavercreek opened on Monday.

Aldi, a discount grocery retailer, opened at 2451 Lakeview Drive off of North Fairfield Road. Situated at the south end of the development, the store spans about 18,500 square feet. The store is located near Hobby Lobby and Target.

The store opened early Monday morning and did a golden ticket giveaway for the first 100 shoppers. Each of the first 100 shoppers received a gift card of varying amounts. The store also gave away eco-friendly bags, and a sweepstakes of free produce for a year. Free product samples were available.

The new location means the closing of a nearby store. The new Beavercreek store will replace the Aldi located at 4886 Airway Road, which officially closed on Dec. 10.

“After 10 years at our current location, we are excited to bring this new store to Beavercreek,” said Sarah Brown, Springfield division vice president for Aldi. “The new store will offer customers the same high-quality products at the lowest possible prices.”

Aldi carries more than 100 fruits and vegetables at lower prices. The store will offer special pricing at its grand opening celebration. Milk gallons will be on sale for $1.59 and a dozen eggs will be priced at 59 cents.

The store will feature a range of organic produce, USDA choice beef, the liveGfree gluten-free product line, and Simply Nature brand food products.

The store was built with energy-saving refrigeration and LED lighting.

Other retailers in the development include Salon Lofts, which will occupy 4,000 square feet of space north of the Aldi. Salon Lofts offers individual suites where hair stylists, massage therapists and skin care and nail specialists run their salons.

Aldi operates more than 1,600 stores in 35 states. More than 32 million people shop at the discount store each month, according to the company.
