Disc golf course gets another nine holes

NISKAYUNA — Let’s play 18.
At a ribbon cutting on June 27, the town of Niskayuna officially opened the second set of nine holes on its disc golf course in Blatnick Park.
In a sense, the game combines two warm-weather pastimes. It uses golf terminology but instead of clubs and balls, players throw flying discs into baskets mounted on poles.
“We are excited to see how much great use the course had already gotten and look forward to seeing its expanded use with the new nine holes,” said Lisa Weber, councilwoman and chairwoman of the Community Programs Committee.
The total cost for the project was $6,500, including materials like the baskets, signs and tee boxes. The town received a $1,500 grant from the Niskayuna Community Foundation and the remainder of the funding came from the town’s budget.
The town has wanted to add the extra nine holes for a while. This year’s budget finally allowed for planning and completion of the project.
The Niskayuna Highway Department installed the new equipment.
