“Our organizations were both born from the Methodist Church, and working together on this transition illustrates the seamless garment of service we have formed in this community,” Goodwill president and CEO Jim Stiff, said in a release. “Together we move people out of crisis to a stable place and then give them skills, self-sufficiency and a career path.”

The Salvation Army has operated the location on Wrightsboro Road since 2015. According to a release, the location is attractive to Goodwill because it provides an opportunity to open a new upscale retail thrift store, relocates the Goodwill outlet and includes a 25,000 square foot warehouse that will be used for storage and to provide program space for Helms Career Education industry certification training.

“We are pleased to partner with Goodwill of Middle Georgia and the CSRA to better serve our community,” Maj. Douglas McClure, Area Commander, and Senior Kroc Officer, said in the release. “This move will allow The Salvation Army to focus on improving their customer’s experience in the Family Store and help both ministries carry out their missions of serving the Greater Augusta Area.”
