Event kicks off McNeese homecoming week

The McNeese Alumni Association’s 38th annual Ladies Champagne Bingo on Saturday, Oct. 14, will kick off a week of homecoming activities ahead of the Cowboys’ game with Incarnate Word.

This year’s theme, “Captains & Pirates,” is a nod to the “Pirates of the Caribbean” film franchise, said Stephanie Clark, assistant alumni affairs director.

The event will kick off at 11 a.m. Saturday at Burton Coliseum with champagne, mimosas, half-sandwiches, chips and snacks.

“We have male servers who will do the serving of the champagne, and they’ll be dressed in a nautical theme,” Clark said.

Participants will play 10 rounds of bingo for various prizes, including a Michael Kors watch and purse, Kendra Scott purse and earrings set, and an Amazon Fire tablet.

“The final game is a blackout game, and the prize basket has a massage, haircut, round of golf, tanning session and more,” Clark said.

She said the event is sold out every year.

“So if you attend the event this year, you will get an invitation next year to purchase a ticket,” she said. “If you are able to come in and pick up your tickets before the cut-off date, you’re guaranteed a spot. If you do not, we have a wait list that starts the day after Labor Day.”

Clark said about 70 door prizes will be given away throughout the event.

The money raised will go to support alumni association programs and events, including scholarships and campus support, Clark said.
