Urgent care center to open

Albany Med will unveil new facility on Saturday

Niskayuna

Albany Medical Center said it will open its new EmUrgentCare center at 1769 Union St. in Niskayuna at 9 a.m. Saturday. The new center, open daily from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., will join similar centers operated by Albany Med in Brunswick, Colonie, Coxsackie, Glenville, Mechanicville and Saugerties.

Providers will be able to treat such issues as sprains, strains and bone fractures, cuts and lacerations, colds and flu, ear and throat infections, asthma, bronchitis and pneumonia.

The $7 million, three-story, 36,000-square-foot building will also include ambulatory surgery and endoscopy services. It is being developed by the Lecce Group.

Albany Med previously said it will invest several million dollars in equipping the space, which it will lease from the developer.

The $7 million project is expected to be completed by next January.

Before the Albany Med building could be constructed, Lecce had to complete a $2 million, 4,000-square-foot office to house a dental practice that previously occupied the site where the EmUrgent-Care center was to be built.

The $7 million, three-story, 36,000-square-foot building will also include ambulatory surgery and endoscopy services.
